Donate

Women’s Services accepts a variety of donations, including cash,in-kind donations, a special gift registry, and planned gifts. Cash donations can be made for a specific program, such as the shelter, or you can make an unrestricted or general donation, which means we will put the money toward a program that we determine needs it most.

To make a donation in the name of a loved one to honor or memorialize them, please include the person’s name in the comment section on PayPal and their contact information so we can notify them or their family of your gift.

In-kind donations include things such as food, toiletry items, bedding, strollers, and towels. We are always in need of the items below.

The following household items are always needed

  • Laundry detergent
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Toiletries
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Paper products
  • Pillows
  • Phone cards
  • Cough drops
  • Antacids
  • Aspirin
  • Ibuprofen
  • Baby ointment
  • Bandages and band-aids
  • Towels (hand and bath sized)
  • Liquid hand soap refills

Gift Registry

Women’s Services has a ‘wedding’ gift registry at WalMart that contains items we always need for our emergency shelter, as well as items our clients need when starting over on their own. You can purchase items we need and they will automatically be sent to Women’s Services.

You can find our registry by visiting Walmart.com. Select “Wedding,” and enter the first and last name as Women’s Services respectively. Then select Pennsylvania as the state.

Planned Giving

Bequests and planned gifts help Women’s Services continue to make a difference in our community for decades to come.

Making gifts to WSI by check or credit card is familiar and easy, but do you know that a planned gift from accounts and things you own that have grown in value can help you to save on taxes, manage your accounts, transfer your possessions, and even allow you to give more than you thought you could? Common planned gifts include those made by wills or from stocks, bonds, and mutual funds; individual retirement accounts; donor-advised funds; life insurance; real estate; and other personal property like cars, boats, and coin collections. Please contact us to learn more about how a planned gift may support the women and children we serve and provide benefits to you!

The Gillian Ford Endowment Fund

In 2000, a bequest from the estate of Ruby E. Campbell provided funding for Women’s Services to establish an Endowment Fund. In 2008, the fund was renamed the Gillian Ford Endowment Fund in honor of Gilly Ford, who served as Executive Director of WSI from 1998 till 2008.

The fund is managed by the Crawford Heritage Community Foundation, a nonprofit community foundation that serves all of Crawford County.

If you need assistance in making a gift to the fund, please contact a financial planner or attorney. For more information, contact the Crawford Heritage Community Foundation’s Executive Director, Christian Maher, at 814-336-5206 or email executive@crawfordheritage.org.

A gift to the Gillian Ford Endowment Fund will help ensure that shelter and counseling are available to people recovering from crisis. It will also support education and prevention programs aimed at breaking the cycle of abuse.
